WHAT IS ISO 45001?
The ISO 45001 standard has replaced the British standard OHSAS 18001. It was developed by experts in occupational health and safety and aligns with other systemic management approaches like ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. ISO 45001 is designed to prevent workplace injuries and professional illnesses and to create safe working environments.
The new ISO 45001 standard, "Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems," encompasses many more factors and views occupational health and safety as a significant component of a company's development. It also requires organizations to ensure the safety of workers, subcontractors, transporters, suppliers, and people living nearby. This is because injuries and illnesses among employees affect both employers and the economy as a whole, leading to staff shortages, increased insurance payments, and early retirement. Every year, more than 2 million people die due to workplace accidents and illnesses.

Who needs ISO 45001 certificate
Confirmation of the presence of an occupational health and safety management system at a company is provided by the ISO 45001 certificate issued by an authorized certification body. ISO 45001 compliance certification can be obtained by companies of any size and industry. Most often, this certificate is required for high-risk operations, such as mining and metallurgy, the chemical industry, construction, woodworking, and medical laboratories.
